Using cheats

Remember that we cannot guarantee that cheats will work on your version of a given ROM, or for any ROM hacks, as these cheats rely on adjusting values in memory addresses and these addresses change in different versions and especially with ROM hacks.
If you'd like to enable cheats in a game you're playing on Afterplay, here are the steps you can follow:
Navigate to the "Cheats" section of the game menu
Search for your game in the text entry field, and select it from the list
Enable the cheats you would like to use
Click "Apply Cheats and Reload Emulator"
From this point on your cheats should be active.
In the event that:
your game isn't listed in the database
you have confirmed working cheats you'd like to use for a ROM Hack or similar
you'd simply like to do things manually for any other reason
you can follow these steps instead:
Navigate to the "Cheats" section of the game menu
Select the "Custom" tab, above the text entry field
Click "Add Custom Cheat Code"
Give your cheat a name and enter your cheat codes, replacing any spaces or line breaks with plus signs (see example image above, or in-depth example below)
When finished typing in your codes, click "Add Cheat" (your new code should be enabled by default)
Click "Apply Cheats and Reload Emulator"
From this point on your cheats should be active.
When you find old GameShark or Action Replay codes for games, they are often formatted in blocks of codes for readability. Something like this:
Pokémon Emerald Master Code
D8BAE4D9 4864DCE5
A86CDBA5 19BA49B3
You need to take this block of codes, and lay them out in a single line, separated only by plus signs. Here's an example using the code block above:
D8BAE4D9+4864DCE5+A86CDBA5+19BA49B3
This should be everything you need to get your favourite cheats working on Afterplay.
